Enabling communities to choose active travel

Active City is led by Alice Woodruff, a transport planning specialist who works with communities to change their travel behaviour for healthier, happier, low-carbon communities.

Influencing people’s travel behaviour is complex. To design and implement successful interventions and policies requires integrating and translating across disciplines, as well co-designing solutions with communities and stakeholders.

We encourage people to choose walking, cycling and public transport for more of their travel, especially to work and education.

We encourage flexibility in organisations to make the most of their people and reduce demand on our urban transport systems.

How do we do this? We…

Develop transport strategies that enable active travel choices.

Collaborate with organisations to design, implement and evaluate behavioural change projects for their people.

Build people’s capacity to support positive change through workshops and research.
